Thought on Teleprompting

It's amazing, the power being behind teleprompter. Its quite nerve recking at times. If I mess up, its all on me that I messed up a live show. However, it also feels pretty good being relied on if there is a script confusion. I love my industry, its so crazy. 0=)

A Post Production Asst. Experience

At the beginning of my time working with this one production, I remember talking with an editor about "continuity". They had mention to me that continuities aren't really used anymore. In case you don't know what continuity is, its similar to an outline of the movie that goes scene by scene, reel by reel having timecode extremely important.

It's just a cheat sheet of lost and gained time. It has brought me to thinkng that if you know how to make one or read one, you are lucky. Same thing goes for wall cards. Never the less, although it's being under used, that shouldn't take away the importance of the look.

It should be easy for the editor, post production supervisor and other people that may need to rely on either the continuity, wall cards or especially the line script. If one page in the line script is out of sequential order, that delays the editor or assistant editor from working and delays the post production flow. Good thing I'm aware that details are everything.

At My Internship

While at my internship this past week, I have realized that people can be cut throat in this business.


My boss had told my fellow intern partner, that she wouldn't have hired her had she known that she wasn't staying with our company passed April. For an internship, opportunity can easily be lost for the most petty things. I was shocked to hear that my fellow intern partner, wouldn't have received the chance to live in New York City and learn what she had learned, nor work the way she worked because of her availability.

Technically, she had a good run. She was there four days out of five, and in the end, was still treated as if her position was a misunderstanding.

However, this truly does show me how dedicated you may have to be in this field for you to have to fight for what you want and deserve. Knowing this, this makes me want to fight; fight because:

I want to make it in this industry.

I want to make it so my name is well known and recognized for my work.

I want to make my family so proud of all the hard work I've done to pull it off.

I want to make it...

At My Internship

Today I was reminded that timing is everything through three different examples.

First example:

My internship coordinator had set up my schedule three days before today. If I'm late, my whole day gets set back and messes up the flow. Ratings were supposed to be done this morning, and were not since the website was down. I ended up doing them at 4pm when the website finally started like working. My two part digitizing turned into one, since I was stuck on the ratings.

Second example:

As I was covering a break, I had to take care of three messengers. One of them had explained to me that she went to the wrong building by accident and how she tried to make it here. In my eyes, it was a common mistake; so I told her it was okay. When I called the director of the department, he had clearly told her "hurry up your late". I felt bad since she already felt bad, and now she probably feels like crap.

Third example:

The last messenger that came to pick up a package was apparently carrying an important package. I say this since it caused me to receive three emails regarding his arrival and departure with the package.

Therefore reminding me, that timing is everything in this business. It can make or break your schedule, someone else's schedule or just cause you to lose an opportunity you had or could've had.
